About the Set.

Some texts say the ancient name of Avalon was Avaron.
This set is inspired by the gemstone Zircon, cemetaries, grieved losses and to all those we've lost to death but whose memories we still hold dear.
If you have ever wandered about in a cemetary and wondered about the names and the lives behind those names, then you will find Avaron upon Ellylion a very special place indeed, where the dead still have a voice.

There is a place far away, some say it lies in another world, but Avaron lies in the heart more than anywhere.

It is a land of fallen shadows and memories carved in stone, an island where the stars keep vigil over a garden of bones.

In Ellylion, Avaron lies to the west of the Great House. Beyond the garden, is a narrow path paved in cobble stones. The stucco walls are hung with crystal globes of candlelight and roses of every color lining both sides. At the end of the walk, up the granite steps, beyond the tree carved, double doors lies a world of marble and soft candlelight.

I walk pass the arches, down the aisles and look at names which have traversed a history that has vanished. I stop at one name, Eavlisan, and touch the brillant zircon gem set below it.

From the shadows a woman approaches dressed in a flowing gown of white with folded hands saying, "My name is Eavlisan and this was once my home." She gestures with her hands as she speaks and I sit down upon marble this afternoon and listen to Eavlisan tell me her life story. We chat together and soon I begin to feel I have known her all my life. Then afternoon stretches into evening and Evalisan finally fades into the shadows of the long dead.

Michael is suddenly present, wiping a tear from my cheek. I've no idea how long he has been beside me.

He smiles warmly, "The guardian of the dead often sacrifices tears.....so many memories to hold. Come", he pulls me to my feet. "It is late and time for you to walk among the living again. You can return to Avaron later and visit with Evalisan."

Even after we'd left the garden I searched the shadows for Evalisan, but she wasn't to be found. She only lived in Avaron and in my memory.

At midnight tea, I told Mylan about Evalisan and she smiled saying it was good I'd brought her back to life. I sighed deeply wishing I did have such power.

Two years later, the Lady would be astonished to hear the myth of Evalisan spoken among her people.

Set Dedication

There have been people all along the way that have made a difference in my life. These sets are dedicated to them.

This set is dedicated to Gaudior for being such a wonderful father, a true knight of the round table and for having seen Avaron in its many guises.
